My Little Piece of Heaven

Hello from Hip Hop Heaven! We are located near Grand Rapids, Michigan. My name is Emily Henderson. I raise Mini Rex rabbits. We are a small rabbitry and hope to stay that way. Here at Hip Hop Heaven we believe in "Quality Not Quantity". Hope you enjoy looking at the site! Smile

Rabbit Personalities

Rabbits have a lot of needs like being cared for. They also need food and water. It is fun to hold your rabbits, but don't hold them for too long or else they will get very hot and they might get dehydrated. It's also very important to keep your rabbit's food to a minimun so they don't go overweight. It is okay to have a brood doe go overweight but it is not good if a show rabbit goes overweight. When you Grand Champion a rabbit, it is very good to have it registered so you can make it officially a Grand Champion. You can get a Grand Champion number on its pedigree and you can get a certificate.

Getting My Start

When I started my rabbitry my mom wanted me to get off to a good one so she contacted a great breeder named Dori Goodall and got our first rabbits from her, Bucky and Princess. I worked with them for awhile but then the Castor color caught my eye so she went to Jenni Himebaugh and bought me Mick and Summer. Next I decided I wanted to work on White a little bit since Bucky and Princess both carried White so I found Snowball at Mini Rex Nationals and bought her from Walter Clark. To complete my rabbitry I also wanted to work on Brokens some so I saw cute little Ava from Ann of Woodland's Rabbitry and bought her as well. I dabbled briefly with one Broken Castor from Redelman's but he has moved on and I never kept any offspring as I decided not to work with Broken Castors, only the solids. I recently picked up one more Castor from the Hacketts to complete my rabbit purchasing as my mom says I need to work on my own from here on out. All in all, I have only ever bought 8 rabbits total and have built my rabbitry up from there. Thank you to all who have helped me get my start in this awesome hobby!

Our First Mini Rex-Princess and Bucky

My rabbit, Princess, is almost three years old and my brother's only rabbit, Bucky, is five years old. Princess is a Blue doe and Bucky is a Black buck. We call them Princess and Bucky but their full names are Rose Arbor's Blue Princess, and Kentucky Oak's Black Knight. They were our first rabbits and will never leave our barn. Sadly, we just recently had to put Princess down at the Vet. :(
